The Bright Side of the Kitchen|

We finally finished the other side of the kitchen!!

We hung the wallpaper (a task that had my husband known how difficult it would be he may not have taken it on - thanks honey!!) and we put up the bead board and chair rail and painted it along with all the trim!!

Now all that is left to do is sew the valances, I purchased yellow and cream gingham to make the valances out of with my brand new sewing machine! Hopefully it goes well!

Wallpaper and bead board:
Breakfast bar table that my dad made us using old legs off the table that the house came with. It has wheels on one end making it easy to move around the kitchen.
Coner of the kitchen near the dinning room. The shelf shows off the tins nicley with its fresh coat of paint! And the antique wash stand now pops off the wall!
Now onto the next project... sewing the valances for over the kitchen windows! Hope it goes well!

Kitchen Facelift |

Photos of our new kichen reno - 75% complete!

Thanks dad and mom with all your help with the kitchen reno!

BEFORE: (image taken on the day we inspected the house before purchasing it)

MIDDLE:AFTER:

White and Yellow Flower Knobs on the two middle doors. I found them at Michale's and they match the wall paper that will be going up on the opposite wall! They add a unique touch to the cabinets! Some of the honey tins that were used as centre pieces at our wedding. And a cute little yellow glass jar purchased by my mom for $2 at a local rustic furniture shop!Retro Popcorn machine from my brother New Faucet New School House Light

Now all that is left to do is to put up the 'tin tile' back splash and the wallpaper and bead board wainscoting up on the other side of the room.

Kitchen Ideas

1. Use inexpensive 'bead board wainscoting' not only on the cabinet doors, but on the front of the dishwasher! This would work great in our kitchen as the dishwasher is black and the stove is white.
2. Replace the cabinet doors under the sink with a curtain for old fashioned charm! :D

3. Make inexpensive shelves out of old re-purposed barn board / wood and use 'fret-work brackets' to hold the shelves in place.

Border and Wall Paper Options!

When going online to search for 'wallpaper options' I didn't think I would find much! I thought wallpaper was a ding art from. I knew that some 'fancy designers' were still creating 'high end expensive' wall paper, but in terms of inexpensive wallpaper I thought it was totally on the out.

But I found some great options on 'Discount Decorating' a website that serves Canada and the U.S.

View some of my favourite options further down the page!! I don't know How I'm going to pick! There are way to many cute options!
