Sweet Easter Treat Ideas |

I posted the other day about Easter Items that I made last year and today I searched 'Easter Treats' hoping to find something new to make this year to take home for Easter.

I found a number of cute ideas that I thought I would share!

I came across this idea and thought it was a really cute way of displaying your Easter egg shaped sugar cookies. It would look so cute on the Easter table with the other food and would also act as part of the decor (until all the cookies were eaten of course).

This idea looks SOOO Yummy! It is 'Easter Bark' using multiple colours of chocolate swirled together with mini eggs and other Easter treats throw into the bark. Recipe HERE.

This is a cute and simple Idea - Rice Krispies molded into Easter Egg Shapes and then decorated! Recipe HERE.

Sweet little Peeps in Chow Mein Noodle Nests sitting on their Mini Eggs! Recipe HERE.

I thought at first that these nests were like 'Haystacks' one of my favourite cookies. But it turns out they are made of coco and shredded wheat. Recipe HERE.

They look cute in Cupcake wrappers too!

They would look cute in these 'Spring Grasses' Easter Cupcake wrappers - sold HERE.

Or these really neat Nest Cupcake Wrappers. Sold HERE.These are a cute craft for kids. Ice Cream Cones made into Easter baskets filled with jelly beans with a licorice handle! Recipe HERE.

Cabbage Roll Soup |

You have heard of 'Lazy Cabbage Rolls' but this dinner idea takes 'lazy' to a whole new level.

Quick and easy cabbage roll soup tastes just like the real thing but takes much less time and effort - here is how I made mine:

- Fire Roasted Pepper and Tomato Soup Base

- Beef Broth

- 1lb of ground beef

- 1 Large can of diced tomatoes

- 1 bag of chopped cabbage/coleslaw

- 1 cup of cooked rice

- Parmesan cheese

How to make the soup:

- Cook the rice according to package directions

- Brown the beef

- Over medium heat mix together the beef broth and the pepper/tomato soup base.

- Add the can of diced tomatoes and half the pack of cabbage/coleslaw to the soup base.

- Bring to a boil.

- Once it has come to a boil turn it down to low heat and add the cooked meat and rice.

- Simmer on low for 10-15mins.

- Serve in bowls and sprinkle 1 tsp of Parmesan cheese on top of each serving.

This soup is an easy and quick dinner to cook and is even "Husband Approved" being that is it yummy, healthy and filling!

Easter Ideas |

Last Easter I made these cute rice crispy robin's nests. They looked really cute, were easy to make and were a yummy treat at our family meal. View the recipe here.

(The 'Martha' Shot hehe)

Easter Egg Tree. I made this tree last year by simply spray painting a tree branch gold, placing it in a little basket and securing it with floral foam and then covering the base with moss. I found the old fashioned looking Easter eggs at Michale's craft store and hung them on the branches.

This is the grapevine wreath that I use for every season and for Easter I put a green and purple plaid ribbon on it with three egg vine branches in multiple colours from the dollar store. I then put the little Easter Banner on it (again found at Michale's).

Let me know about your Easter Ideas! I would love to try something new this year! Leave a comment!

Seasonal Soup |

I have really been enjoying cooking every night and trying out new "Recipes".

The reason I put "recipes" in quotations is because I absolutely hate following actual recipes! I like to either make up what I think would taste good together, OR look at a photo of food and make my own version based on what it looks like the contents would be.

Thankfully my husband isn't too picky about his food as long as it is healthy, and we haven't had a disaster dinner as of yet.
Here is one of my favourite soups that I have made, and I have made quite a few different types over the past few months.

I call this one 'Butternut Squash and Spinach Lentil Soup' (great title I know) :D

Here's how to make it:

In a large pot with a lid add the following ingredients, bring to a boil and then let simmer for 5 mins.

- 1 pkg. Vegetable Soup Base
- 1 pkg. Butternut Squash Soup Base
- 1 pkg. Frozen Spinach (add frozen)
- 1 pkg. Frozen Butternut Squash (add frozen)
- 1 Can of Lentils
- 1/4 Cup of Peperini Noodles
- Add Pepper and Basil to taste

It is that easy and it is such a yummy fall taste!
