A Feastival of Folks |

I am looking forward to going to this year's Folk Festival July 15-17 at Victoria Park.

My fav artist Hawksley Workman is performing along with many other great artists such as Emm Gryner and Sarah Harmer.

Hair Flares | I'm a "Featherhead"

I got my hair done today at Skintreet here in London by Annette, a great hairdresser.

The receptionist had a 'Hairfeather' in her hair, and so I asked about them and the more I heard about them the more I liked the idea of having one in my hair too.

They simply tie around a few strands of your hair and are held in with a small bead. They can be washed, dried, flat ironed, curled etc. AND they will last for up to 2 months!

When I got home I looked into them and here is the official Featherhead website.

And below is a promo video for the feathers along with a few pictures of how mine looks.

They also put 'Hair Tinsel' in a number of the girls hair while I was there and it is also a really nice look. It adds a little bit of subtle sparkle to your hair when the light catches it.

Here is the official Candian Hair Flares website.

DIY Scrunch Belt |

I made this really cute 'scrunch belt' yesterday!

Somehow awhile ago I stumbled across a tutorial on youtube about how to make this type of belt.

It looked really simple and I just happened to be at Fabricland yesterday during a 50% off sale so I picked up the items needed (fabric, elastic band and a belt clasp). I got everything I needed to make the belt for around $5.00!!

It was so easy to make - I think I will make more to give as gifts and even to sell on Etsy! Might be a good project for up at the cottage on my summer holiday this year!

Big Fan Of | DNTO Podcasts

While editing weddings and photo sessions for hours on end I love to listen to 'talk radio'.

And I am a Big Fan of CBC's 'DNTO' (Definitely not the Opera) and they have podcasts that you can download to listen to the 'Best Of' past episode.

HERE is a link to where you can listen to the podcasts!

Ice Cube Tray Treats | Kids Party Planning

Ice cube trays aren't only for ice anymore!

They also make a great serving dish for yummy treats while also keeping portion sizes small.

Wouldn't it be fun to have a buffet table of treats at your child's birthday party, giving each child their very own funky coloured ice cube tray so that they could fill each slot with a different item of their choosing?!

OR why not give each child their very own ice cube tray full of various sundae toppings so that they could decorate their very own sundae with a little bit of everything!?

Continue the theme by giving each child an ice cube tray full of fun craft supplies and allow them to be creative with all of the materials! This way each child gets the same amount of craft supplies and there are no arguments over who used too much glitter!

Deck Garden |

I really wanted to plant a herb and veggie garden this year - but with Spring/Summer being my busiest work months I didn't want anything too hard to handle.

So I used an old planter box that came with our house, painted it, and planted herbs in it. I also used some pots that I found in the garage to plant tomatoes, green onions and cherry tomatoes.

We will probably attached a dowel from one side to the other at the top of the planter to hang additional pots from.

Here is what it looks like:

Even if we harvest just once from all these plants the garden will more than pay for itself! And HOPEFULLY everything survives and yields a lot!

I can't wait to add home grown veggies and herbs to salads etc. this summer!
